Onboarding Guide for Rewilding Projects (3/4): Create your first project

Welcome to the third part of our onboarding series for rewilding projects! This guide will help you take the next big step: creating your first project on explorer.land. Whether you’re part of the Global Rewilding Alliance or an independent rewilding initiative, setting up your project on explorer.land makes it easier to showcase your work, collaborate with others, and inspire action for nature restoration.

Here’s how to get started.

Three Simple Ways to Create a Project

There are three easy ways to create a new project on explorer.land. Choose the one that fits your workflow best:

Option 1: From Your Dashboard

The quickest way to start is directly from your Dashboard:

  1. Log into your account.
  2. Click the “CREATE PROJECT” button prominently displayed on your dashboard.
  3. The “Create a New Project” form will appear, ready for you to fill out.

Option 2: From the Projects List Page

If you’re already in your Projects list:

  1. Navigate to the top right corner of the page.
  2. Click “Create a new Project”.
  3. This will open the project creation form for you to begin adding details.

Option 3: From Your Organization Overview Page

If your project is part of an organization:

  1. Go to the Organization Overview page for the organization you want to link your project to. (You must have already created an organization for this option—check our guide on how to create an organization if you need help.)
  2. On the left-hand menu, click “Linked Projects”.
  3. In the top right corner, select “Add Project” and then “Create new Project”.
  4. Once you’ve completed the process, your new project will automatically be linked to the organization.

Filling Out the Project Creation Form

After you choose one of the above options, you’ll be taken to the Create a New Project form. Here’s how to complete it:

  1. Fill Out Required Fields
Each field comes with a helpful description to guide you. Be sure to include all required information, such as:
    • Project name
    • Location
    • Objectives and description
    • Key milestones or outcomes
  1. Save Your Progress
Once you’ve entered the details, click “SAVE AS DRAFT” to save your work. This allows you to return and make edits before publishing.
  2. Cancel or Go Back
If you need to cancel the process, simply click the “Cancel” button or use the back arrow at the top of the page.

Tip: Depending on your screen size, you might need to scroll to view all the fields. Double-check that every section is complete before saving.
